Types of Developer

There are currently a variety of developer chemicals on the market and in general many solutions will work with any kind of film. But occasionally certain combinations will provide less than satisfactory results. Hence it is important to select the appropriate developer for the film that is to be processed to ensure the desired results.

It is necessary to be aware that some developers produce very fine grain, or can give higher contrast than standard developers and others are highly suited to push processing. The actual results with individual developers will vary depending on the film used, the dilution of the developer and the developing temperature.
